Network = Net-Worth
It is said, “Each person is the sum of their five closest friends.” Another saying is, “Show me your friends. I’ll show you your future.” A few other quotes talk about “iron sharpening iron” or “a three stranded chord is not easily broken” or “your type is your treasure”. Whichever the case, a general way to predict productivity, discover purpose and identify passion is by looking with whom you
associate.
Relationships should be developed with intentionality. Too often, loyalty and familiarity remain the driver of relationship while proximity and frequency anchor it. This is where reflection and evaluation should consistently be revisited.
Am I more loyal to people than my purpose and passion?
Do those same people support my purpose and passion?
What are they doing to propel me into my purpose and passion?
Are they preventing me from reaching my purpose and passion?
Am I friends with them because it is convenient?
And by convenient, I mean because we have always been friends?
Is it easy to be friends with them because we are just used to each other?
What is their purpose and passion?
Can I support and agree with their dreams and goal?
When we surround ourselves with people who challenge and encourage us to be the best version of ourselves, we begin to see our value/worth increase. This increase spills over into our social, academic, professional, romantic, spiritual and mental areas of life. However, when we connect ourselves with people who are not driven, who don’t dream big, who are complacent and negative, our personal lives suffer and in becomes increasingly difficult to get where and become who we
want aspire be.
